THE FOUNDATION SPECIMEN The L144 Longfin is the architectural masterpiece of our breeding facility. This isn't just a bottom-dweller; it is a focal specimen selected for its flowing, translucent finnage and solid, high-saturation lemon coloration.
THE LEMON BLUE EYE PHENOTYPE This lineage is prized for its pure, xanthic yellow body—devoid of the dark spotting found in common bristlenose. The defining feature is the striking blue iris, which provides a high-contrast "ice-blue" gaze against the neon-yellow head. The "Longfin" gene in our Studio Line produces oversized, ethereal fins that drift gracefully in the current.
STUDIO MINERALIZATION To support the massive fin growth and vibrant skin tone, our L144s are raised with high-concentration calcium and specialized mineral supplements. This ensures strong bone structure in the fin rays and a dense, opaque yellow luster that doesn't fade as they mature.

SHIPPING FEES & COVERAGE
Flat Rate Express Livestock: $30.00 Australia-wide. We currently ship to VIC, NSW, QLD, SA, and ACT. Due to strict biosecurity regulations, we do not ship live snails to the Northern Territory, Tasmania, or Western Australia. All orders are sent via Australia Post Express to ensure the shortest possible time in transit.
THE 1-HOUR DOA WINDOW
To be eligible for a claim, you must provide a continuous, unedited video of the package being opened. This video must be emailed to our studio within 1 hour of the official Australia Post delivery timestamp. The video must clearly show the shipping label and the condition of each snail in its unopened, original transit bag.
DISPATCH & WEATHER PROTOCOLS
We dispatch live specimens on Mondays and Tuesdays only to prevent snails from being held in sorting depots over the weekend. Shell & Fin Aquatics reserves the right to delay dispatch if extreme heat (35°C+) is forecast; you will be notified via email if a weather hold is placed.
ADVANCED GAS EXCHANGE (BREATHER BAGS)
We use specialized breather bags that allow oxygen in and carbon dioxide out. Please do not be alarmed by the low water volume (approx. 150ml–200ml per snail); this is a deliberate professional technique designed to maximize the surface area for gas exchange.
WATER QUALITY & SAFETY
Every shipping bag is treated with Seachem AmGuard, a powerful ammonia binder that remains active for up to 72 hours. This ensures your snails are protected from toxin buildup during their journey.
CLIMATE CONTROLLED PACKAGING
Every order is shipped inside a high-density insulated thermal esky. This provides a critical buffer against temperature fluctuations, ensuring your snails remain in a stable environment from our studio to your door.
SPECIALIZED CONDITIONING
Every snail from our studio is raised in a specialized, calcium-rich environment designed to prioritize shell thickness and prevent the pitting and erosion common in mass-market varieties.
METICULOUS SELECTION
Our process is personal and meticulous. We monitor the development of every clutch to ensure each snail meets our high standards for aesthetics and health before it leaves the studio. Before being selected for your collection, your snail is conditioned on a curated regimen of premium supplements to support optimal growth and long-term vitality.
